I was talking to a friend today about weight loss and how much she thought she should weigh. She had an arbitrary number that she thought she couldn’t go below. She just viewed herself as stocky and just didn’t believe she could ever be considered small or a ‘skinny’ girl despite having lost almost 19 pounds. She is in fact closing in on a perfect venus index!

Bale looks like death in the machinist and jacked in batman
Having an irrational belief that you are just bigger or thicker than the average might hold you back from achieving your weight loss goals. This belief might stop you from achieving your ideal adonis index (guys) or venus index (girls).
In other words, your somatotype and your current size have nothing to do with your ability to build a perfectly proportioned body…BUT your BELIEF of your body type can certainly sabotage your willingness to try.
Despite the fact that we all have some identifiable somatotype characteristics, the difference between them isn’t as much as you might think. Even a true endomorph (big and thick) can still lose substantial bodyfat and look much closer to a meso or a meso/ecto. Likewise an ecto can build great proportions and look more mesomorphic without having to gain massive amounts of muscle.
How you choose to eat and workout will determine how you can make your body look (regardless of your somatotype).
Have a look at the pictures above of Christian Bale. I’d say he’s a mesomorph and look how freakin’ skinny he got for his role in the machinist. If you only ever saw him in that one movie you’d say he is an ecto all the way. If you only saw him in batman you’d say he’s a meso. So what is he?
The answer is it doesn’t matter.
Shoot for a good proportioned body (ideal Adonis Index or Venus Index) and don’t stop till you get there.
