Soup or Salad

I’ll be going out for dinner tonight and I’m not entirely sure what will be on the menu or what I’ll be eating, but I think I definitely want to include a soup or a salad (or both)

Soup and salad can be great low calorie (but tasty) options when you’re trying to pay attention to your total calorie intake.

So I’m just throwing this one out.

What are you favorite soup and/or salad choices when you go out for dinner?

My all-time favorite salad is the Bob Evans Wildfire Chicken salad made with spinach, not lettuce. The lunch size plus dressing is about 800 calories (less if you get the grilled chicken…but the breaded and fried chicken is so good!) and even though it’s “lunch size,” it always fills me up!

I am not much of a soup guy and soups usually have a lot of salt, so I will go with salad – Asian Salad.

A subway salad is a great way of ‘coming down’ from a +24hour fast.

Waiter: “Would you like a soup or salad?”
Guest: “What’s in the super salad?”

Chilis Chicken Enchilada soup is great.
Olive Gardens Soupa Toscana is another good one.

Tomato basil or chicken, broccoli and cheese. Salads are good, but I rather go for soup, I’m not sure if its because of the warmth or taste, but they leave satisfied and you can still enjoy some more food.

    Split pea soup

Not a particular salad, but I love chopped up boiled eggs on my salad! lol.

Salad can be a VERY big mistake the way ppl eat them.

    Number one tip?

Don’t put dressing on it. Order it on the side and just dip the tip of your fork in the dressing. You’ll eat 1/4 of the dressing you normally do.

If the salad comes with cheese, don’t use dressing at all. It will make very little difference in the taste (usually just makes it sweet).

Any salad with grilled chicken or fish. No dressing at all, if it a mix of veggies, as it only ruins the taste of the food. Ceasar will need some dressing, but on the side. Most dressing have a lot of calories and salad should not be used as a medium just to eat dressing! No croutons in the salad.

If I want something like a dressing… I use spicy mustard.
