Hey John, I got a q on something I've not seen you talk about yet. What are the <b>objective<b> reasons for a guy to <b>not<b> use?

My first obvious reason is legality. Ok, let's assume you live in a country where its legal and you can just buy it like you would aspirin. What would be a guy's objective reasons to not use?

I'm of course talking about just minimal doses, life-round. In essence, taking minimal doses to just get that extra edge of a fitness model. To maybe just maintain 10-15 pounds more than is possible naturally. I'm also assuming you're taking the right ancillaries for a good sex life and prevent estrogenic side-effects.

Most of the anti-steroid reasons give are not objective at all but fear mongering. So I'd like to hear what are some objective, logical 'why not' reasons?

Jay,

Sandow died 10 years before testosterone was discovered. So he is all natural.

LN,

I've seen guys get as lean as this model with and without drugs. I've also seen guys build similar muscularity without drugs. But this is just my opinion and it's just based on this one specific picture. I have no idea what this guy looks like in person and I can't really comment based on one picture. Most pictures (especially professional ones like these) are heavily edited before you see them. It's very difficult to make an assessment based off of a picture like this.

He doesn't look overly huge in this pic, but I've seen other pics of this same guy that make me question what he's done to gain his size.

If you're asking because you really want to know, then track this guy down and ask him yourself. If you're comparing your body to his...DON'T. Unless you get an answer from him directly you'll never really know what he did to look like this (it could be 100% drug free, but we can't be sure).

Thanks John.

I've been following eat-stop-eat as well as turbulence training and have lost 9lbs of body fat to take me down to 148lbs.

Im going to start Vince Delmonte's gaining mass program shortly but I will go into it with clearer expactations than I may have done otherwise.

Great post.

Another great post, John. I purchased Adonis 1.0, Eat Stop Eat and follow you and Brad Pilon; I am, in short, a member of the 'choir' and yet, even now, I still find myself 'sorta' believing the propaganda from the supplement industry. Its important that you continue hammering away with these posts so that others may one day realize that a drug induced physique is not only 'abnormal' but its unattractive (according to all the research pointed out in Adonis, and talk with the average woman).

Keep up the good work.

Tough to say as there is such limited research on this type of thing. From everything I've seen both scientifically and anecdotally I would say between 15-20 pounds for your life.

This also depends on when you start training how consistent you train, somatotype (as you've already pointed out)...endo's might be able to gain closer to 20, ecto's perhaps less than 15.

Hi John

How much muscle would you say that the average person wanting to put muscle on could put on?

I am 5 foot 10 inches and have a Ectomorph/Mesomorph Somatype.

Best regards
